Total Phenolic Composition and Antioxidant Activity of Silver Nanoparticles using Aqueous Extract of Chilca Leaves (Baccharis latifolia)

The importance of studying polyphenols as natural antioxidants has encouraged the search for new methods rapid, simple analysis. synthesis silver Nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using plant extracts been presented an alternative to determine presence polyphenolic compounds. In this study, aqueous extract chilca (Baccharis latifolia), endemic species from South America known its medicinal properties, was used. This extract, because composition, can convert Ag+ ions Ag0 in a chemical reduction process. To optimal conditions microwave-assisted nanoparticle synthesis, factorial experimental designs were used and analyzed with Statgraphics software. Ag NPs characterization carried out transmission electron microscopy; synthesized nanoparticles measured 4.86±2.44 nm on average. For NPs, total content antioxidant capacity determined oxygen radical absorbance cyclic voltammetry method prepare both be fast reliable. addition being green economical, allows direct measurement extract’s analytical techniques that may potentially applicable pharmaceutical industry.
